Child Abuse is a subject that evokes strong emotions from some and a loud silence from others.

Unfortunately in families where child abuse occurs, it often remains hidden in the family closet.  Why? Because it is too easy for those who become aware of the situation to turn the other way, to play blind, to ignore the obvious and convince themselves that it is none of their business.  Such inaction often results in the physical and/or emotional scaring of an innocent victim which can last a lifetime.

I have recently been doing some reading on serial killers and one thing that they seem to have in common is almost all came from homes where abuse was rampart.

I wrote this article several years ago for an online magazine.  Unfortunately, it never saw the light of day in that forum.  When I gave Mom a printed copy of it she cried and said  "This makes it all worth it."  I printed it up and had it framed for her funeral in 2001.  The comments were overwhelming.
